Meeting with BAP CEOs

Early this month we hosted a rewarding event that brought together three CEOs that won the Business Acceleration Program (BAP) competition held at OPEN's MIT chapter last year.   Due to Visa problems the third CEO was not able to attend the meeting.  In his place Mr. Shahid Mir CEO of TBaas spoke.

We had three interesting speakers. It was very valuable hearing from entrepreneurs running businesses in Pakistan and solving local problems by reaching out in their own regions as well as western markets for business opportunities.

The first person to speak was S.A Hasnain CEO of AEROCAR.  Aerocar builds ATM transaction machines which are dustproof and load shedding proof, very suitable for third world countries where internet access and electricity can be spotty.  They specialize in developing kiosk application software. Applications include bill payment solution, web browsing applications, event registration, product or service location application, way finder, gift registry, security application etc.  The software is customizable in "look and feel". It can be configured either on site or remotely via the Internet. Applications are linked to database, and can be web based. Multi-lingual application are available with front end in English with Urdu, Cantonese, Arabic and Hindi.

The second person to speak was Ikonami country manager for Pakistan, Babar Khan Khalil.   Ikonami technologies have offices in Islamabad and cater to the British market mostly.  They operate across different industries, They have extensive human resource management, Learning and Development, Education and Workforce Planning experience in the healthcare sector. The underlying theme through all their work is helping organizations with commercial thinking about people, processes and technology. They work with a range of clients, from smaller businesses like Innocent Drinks through to large organizations such as BMI Healthcare, Quintiles Transnational and the Department of Health.

Third and definitely not the least was Shahid Mir, CEO of Baas.  Shahid Mir was a technology chief under Musharaf for Software Export Board.  He is currently the CEO of TBaas.  He claims that TBaas is the next billion dollar company from Pakistan.  They basically do telecom billing as a service.  Telecom Billing as a Service (TBaaS) is a suite of new generation OSS / BSS services which is highly customizable, flexible, scalable, robust and secure. It is built on Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) ensuring lower cost and time of integration and deployed on Elastic Computing Cloud giving massive computing power with high scalability.  TBaaS makes possible truly convergent and vender independent Mediation, Rating and Hot billing support for next generation telecommunication services.
