This has been a very busy first half of year for us.   We have had an average of two events per month.  These events ranged from job networking to get together of young professionals, executive briefings and a rip roaring picnic where over 125 people participated.

Our charter membership increased from 18 to 27 members.  Our regular membership increased from 80 to 150.  We set up a new executive committee with the following:
  • Javed Qamer as President
  • Asim Hussain as Vice President
  • Kamran Hasan as Vice President
  • Ahmed Ali as Vice President
No organization can grow without the active participation of the community in general.  We are starting to gain momentum both in growth and participation, but need to continue to grow and need volunteers to sustain our current levels of activity.

I urge the Pakistani American community to take part in our activities and become volunteers in our events.  We are all busy in our day to day events but OPEN is making a difference in our day to day lives.  We are here to support our community during the tough times and the good times.  In order to do this we need the support of the community at large.

We have invited prominent speakers to address the issues faced by Pakistani Americans on an ongoing basis and have events that we feel will benefit both our membership and the broader community and we intend to continue to do so.

As a reminder, we are planning on having our annual event on October 18, 2009 where we have tentatively selected the following prominent speakers:
  • Shaukat Aziz  Ex prime minister Pakistan
  • Farooq Kathwari  CEO Ethan Allen
  • Stuart Mcfarland CEO

We encourage all community members and your friends and families to make this a successful event by attending and participating with us.  We look forward to seeing you there.

Sincerely,

Javed Qamer
