Event Follow-up: Women's Leadership Forum Launch
TYSONS CORNER, VA – Saturday, March 3, 2012 – The Organization of Pakistani Entrepreneurs (OPEN), D.C. Chapter , successfully launched the OPEN D.C. Women's Leadership Forum (WLF) this past Saturday, a Forum dedicated to the success and development of Women as leaders in their respective industries. The launch event was held at the Crowne Plaza of Tysons with keynote speaker, Bridget Dean. OPEN DC President Imran Malik gave a brief about OPEN and it's mission, followed by a small business case study presented by Narjis Ali, the Chair for the new WLF.
Bridget currently serves as District Director, Washington Metropolitan District Office, and the Region III Director for U.S. Small Business Administration and spoke on the available programs at the SBA available to small business owners, particularly women-owned. From helping entrepreneurs get a running start on establishing a business to paving a path to financial independence, Bridget provided the insight into navigating the D.C. business space, and the three ways SBA can help support small business owners.
The event was a huge success with over 50 attendees enthused about the open Q & A opportunity they had with the event keynote. Bridget was impressed with the high level of curiosity present amongst the OPEN D.C. community and expressed interest in further partnership events with OPEN DC. The event was followed by a luncheon with Bridget and the WLF Steering Committee.
The WLF announced three more events in 2012, the next one in May which will focus on Women in the Glamour Business. Photos from the event are available on the official OPEN D.C. Facebook page at Facebook/com/openwashingtondc.
